Java Applet Client [May. 23rd, 2003|03:37 pm]
LiveJournal Client Discussions

Some time ago (wow... two years almost)I developed a Java Applet LiveJournal Client. At the time, few people seemed all that excited, and I never got a link to it from the clients page.

Today I paid my neglected applet a visit and decided that while it could use a few tweaks, it really isn't bad for a basic LJ client, and provides an alternative to the web interface for people who can't (or don't want to) download a stand-alone client.

So two questions. First, how do I go about getting a link to the applet? Second, if I decided to improve the code, how do I go about updating the version on the LiveJournal server (and accompanying HTML page)? I remember there was a process to use before, but I've long since forgotten what it was.

Nice client!

Can't answer any of your questions, but I thought I'd tell you that is very cool. Wish I had known that existed sooner. I just might have to use that a bit.

usually you have a community dedicated to the development of the client, that way when they link to it, they link to the community

There is a community for it (pepys_dev). Though really, there's nothing of interest to end users there. Specifically, there really isn't any need for a "download" or "installation instructions" page, since there's nothing to download/install.

Regardless, any idea who I need to talk to to get a link (whether it be to the community, or to the applet itself) from the clients page?
