hey all...i'm trying to develop an aim bot that will run a "checkfriends" for me while i'm logged in to aim and message me when there's an update (written in perl).

i also wanted it to have multiuser capability (so that my friends who also have paid accounts can use it), but i have a question about the checkfriends protocol:

is the delay time given between polls based on the username polled or the ip address the client is connecting from (or something else)? for example, if it checked the friends list for user finitefractal and was told to wait two minutes before checking again, could it then immediately check the friends of some other user? or would it have to wait two minutes?

It must be per account, since lots of people could be using the same IP address if they're behind a NAT.
