I've found an instance with export_comments.bml where the output cuts off abruptly, and looks like the following:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding='utf-8'?>
<livejournal>
<comments>
<comment id='2640' jitemid='594' posterid='209486' parentid='4622'>
<body>example example example</body>
<date>2004-07-08T10:28:19Z</date>
</comment>
<comment id='2641' jitemid='596' posterid='401344'>
<subject>example example example</subject>
<body>example example example example</body>
<date>2004-07-08T10:56:45Z</date>
</comment>

The stream ends without a closing </comments> tag and without a closing </livejournal> tag, and about halfway between what is typically a 1000 comment export.

If there's any other relevant information I can supply (such as the username this is occurring with, and this last comment ID that is printed before the export cuts off), and also if there's a more appropriate place to post this, please let me know.

Does it do it all of the time?

If so, yes, a username would be helpful. Then, it'd be useful to see the file as it is, so I know where it's cutting off, then I can fix it. You can email me at marksmith at danga dot com, if you want.
