Hi people! I have started developing LiveJournal client. And have a little question : LJ client software CAN or MUST be licensed under GNU GPL? In both cases : where can I read latest GNU GPL text?

You can license your client however you want. Just keep in mind, we only list freely available clients (not necessarily open source) on the LJ Downloads page.

I would encourage you to pick an appropriate open source license that is compatible with your beliefs, because I like open source, but it's by no means a requirement.

As I know GNU GPL licensing isn't free or I have wrong information? Is free open source license exists? I'm developing this client for me, my friends and other people who will like it. Client will be freeware product. If I have done all I need for me and my friends I want to share it's source code under open source license.

Now I'm finishing LiveJournal client component for Delphi7. Component also compatible with Kylix. After Win32 release I want to port my client to Linux. I started this developing 2 weeks ago. One of the reasons induced me to start writing this component is wish to refresh and enlarge my Delphi7 knowledgements before starting commercial project with my partner. Now I think that this commercial project will be small and easy then my LJ client=))
