Hi. I am developing a Wordpress plugin to make it a lot easier to import LJ posts (for those who prefer LJ to lonely WP :) To get user posts, I'm using the RSS feed e.g.
[Error: Irreparable invalid markup ('<a [...] http://www.livejournal.com/users/vodex/data/rss/</a>') in entry. Owner must fix manually. Raw contents below.]

Hi. I am developing a Wordpress plugin to make it a lot easier to import LJ posts (for those who prefer LJ to lonely WP :) To get user posts, I'm using the RSS feed e.g. <A href="http://www.livejournal.com/users/vodex/data/rss/>http://www.livejournal.com/users/vodex/data/rss/"
http://www.livejournal.com/users/vodex/data/rss/</A>

First, whilst I think of it, is there any difference in me choosing rss over atom, apart from the schema?

And now for the biggie:

Is there a way to skip back posts, or get comments, with the feed? (?skip=20 doesn't work).

Apart from that wishlist, it works like a charm: <A href="http://www.vodex.me.uk/projects/lj_feed_import/">http://www.vodex.me.uk/projects/lj_feed_import/</A>

Cheers!

Only if he wants to use the flat mode.

I recommend using the XML-RPC versions, if you're using a reasonable language such as Perl. They're very easy to use and they return data in flexible formats that you don't have to reassemble. You're going to be writing an XML parser anyway if you're getting comments (they aren't available in flat mode).

I had no idea any of this existed, as http://www.livejournal.com/bots/ only mentions the XML outputs and the other comms I was in have not mentioned them. Thanks!
