I'm making an LJ Client in Ruby, mostly to learn how it would be done, and up till now everything's gone great.

I do, however, want to include props (I'm using XMLRPC), but am not entirely sure as to how it should be done. The one I really want to put in is opt_preformatted, as I'm using Textile to format my posts, which inserts breaks automatically.

I'm just curious about the format of such a request, not example code with which it could be done (I've already got the code sorted out).

for what it's worth, it's much easier to directly use the lj api than use xml-rpc.
check out livejournal.rb here: http://neugierig.org/software/livejournal/ruby/
there's a demo called "lj" that uses it in the same directory.

you wanna pass prop_opt_preformatted=1 to set the preformatted flag.
