PHP and interests lists [Jan. 5th, 2007|03:25 pm]
LiveJournal Client Discussions

I'm currently writing some PHP that needs to fetch and parse a specific user's interests list, looking for a specific interest. I'm happy to scrape what I'm looking for out of the HTML of the userinfo page if needs be, but is there a 'better' way of doing this? An XML version of the interests list would be ideal for my purposes.

It's just that I don't want to a) spend ages writing code to sift through the HTML of the userinfo page and b) hammer LJ by transferring the whole userinfo page every time.

Any thoughts would be appreciated :)

If you're trying to authenticate a user, wouldn't using OpenID be easier for the user?

Significantly. I didn't think of that.
