Question about interface/flat protocol [Feb. 6th, 2002|03:21 pm]

I see that all functions require username/password to work. However, from the web I can fetch a lot of information about other users without ever logging in. The question is: does the LJ client protocol allow me to fetch the same information without having to log in? E.g., can I see some user's name, friends list, etc., as I see it on userinfo.bml?

privacy?

well, dunno... In 10 minutes I write a tool that does the same using web interface. That's not pleasant and ugly, but it would work. What's the point? The info is public anyway.

Re: privacy?

(Gavin: This is the sort of attitude most people have... if we support it officially at least they won't kill the site.)
