I am currently working on a Visual Basic client for LJ. It will only have ONE menu at the top, and that will contain the links to SUPPORT, the LJ home page, and all of that user's friend's journals. I'm shooting for a release sometime by the end of the summer, but I sincerely doubt that...probably closer to halloween or thanksgivin, as I still have TONS of code to go over. Also, if Jackol reads this, I would like to bundle your Friend Finder with my client as an internal feature. Just a thought. Well, anyways, all of the aesthetics for the client are complete, and can be seen (here)
Tell me what you all think!

What does the friend finder actually do?

im not sure...that question would be better directed at Jackol himself...he is supposed to be releasing it soon, which is LONG before my client will be ready. I was only asking as a tentative note, in case it is good

Not much really, just an interface to browse through random journals and search for people through interests... for now.

Just out of curiosity...how are you planning on displaying Really Big Friends Lists (We're talking in the thousands)?

Nobody has friends lists that long.
I think magicwoman has the longest one...

Just a minor interface critique... it'd make more sense to use a real minimize button for minimizing, rather than a CommandButton.

that would make more sense, and it was what I had originally intended on doing, but Visual Basic refuses to let me...don't ask me why, I have no clue, but it is a wierd thing, VB is...so until I can get that to work, that stupid little command buttons has to stay. believe me, I'm just as critical of that button as you, and I hate it...but right now i can't fix it...oh well, I'll figure it out eventually. I always do overcome my stupidity...
