The documentation for 'login' isn't very clear on the format for the hpassword entry. I've just verified independently that you can pass the MD5 hash as a string of hexadecimal digits, rather than %xx encoded character-bytes. Hence:

    mode=login&user=test&hpassword=098F6BCD4621D373CADE4E832627B4F6

Just thought that might help someone someday. I had to use trial and error to figure it out.

LJ Docs: "Password as an MD5 hex digest."

Google -> first hit on "hex digest" ->
http://www.perldoc.com/perl5.6.1/lib/Digest/MD5.html
"A hex digest will be 40 characters long."
"...The above example would print out the message
Digest is 6df23dc03f9b54cc38a0fc1483df6e21"

A "digest" is the output of the MD5 digest algorithm, while a hex digest is a hexidecimal encoding of that. So in a sense, it is actually fully documented.

But yeah, it's not too clear. What do you suggest?

Link to the spec? Or preferable to me, provide the sample I gave, which is the correct MD5 digest for the test password 'test' and provide the link as additional information (websites come and go...)
