LiveJournal Client Discussions

for everyone who just *had* to go and download gnome-2's garnome preview 6, now you can have an ultra-cool (sort of, at least) lj client to go with it. yes indeed, drivel 0.8.0 is out and ready to compile. check it out at www.sourceforge.net/projects/drivel/.

from the changelog:

formating text

How do you handle name lookups? Don't they still block?

I misspelled the same word in LogJam!

hehe, linux really needs an editor like textpad which has spell-checking ;)

i copied the gnome-dns.c file from gnome-1.4 and modified it for glib-2.0, included it with drivel, and use it for the dns resolution. it works on callbacks, similar to glib's channel io, so you just initiate it, give it a function to run once its completed, and display a "resolving hostname" dialog while it's working. it still takes a while, but the application doesn't lock up while it's happening and you can always exit it if it takes too long.

You rock :)

You should do a curses/terminal interface for drivel someday too :)
