The application I spoke about here has now been developed in Visual Studio.Net and is available with a GUI for download here.

Unfortunately, the application does not run without the .Net framework and the installer is too heavy for my free hosting service. If anyone knows any place I can place a 3.5 Mb file for free download, please let me know.

For those of you interested in the code, the project is available at the same place.

Lastly, there was a bug, which probably went unnoticed, in the older DOS version. That has been fixed in both versions.

No, that's what I used. But you're right -- if there are no registry things, shortcuts, or the like, then a setup is probably overkill unless you want to package the .NET framework with it. You're better off just dumping the app into a folder and using it that way.

And thanks. :-)

Do you know how to package the framework with an application? Or at least let the setup prompt for a framework download? I had no luck with that.

The only thing I saw useful was the web bootstrapper and the windows bootstrapper which just prompt you to download the MSI files setup requires from the net or a CD respectively.

And how did you manage a 100Kb MSI file? Was your application very small? But it should still take the same size for installation if you used a setup project too........
